Trainee Tax Assistant – Edinburgh - £22,500

 

Have you just finished University and are looking to pursue a career in Tax?

Do you want to work for a highly professional leading law firm?

Do you have a background in finance and are looking to learn about Tax?

 

What does a day to day look like?

  • Provide tax processing/compiling/administration support to other members of the team with their own client allocation;
  • Review own clients regularly to ensure files, section records and other matters, including feeing tax matters, are up-to-date
  • Review annually the client’s affairs against a check list to consider if tax mitigation is possible;
  • Respond promptly to clients’ and HMRC queries and correspondence and those of other agents;
  • Maintain internal records and files and follow departmental procedures
  • To maintain the profitability of tax compliance work by recording time spent on client accurately and ensuring work is carried out efficiently and with no time wastage
  • Complete Tax Returns for individuals, trusts and estates after obtaining information from client, internal sources and external sources
  • Ensure that the Tax Returns are sent to the client for signature within time limits. Explain tax position and when tax is payable

 

Who are we looking for?

  • Somebody who has an interest in pursuing a career in Tax
  • Degree in Finance is highly desirable
  • Any Tax qualification is highly desirable
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages
  • Strong processing skills, numeracy and accuracy
