Mechanical Engineer – Ayrshire – Competitive Salary

Our client is looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join their Engineering team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to become the subject matter expert for a dedicated production area, driving maintenance excellence, continuous improvement, and asset reliability within a modern manufacturing facility. This is a Monday to Friday role.
Are you who we're looking for?
• Completed a mechanical apprenticeship with an HNC in Mechanical Engineering
• Strong background in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or production environment
• Experience developing and managing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes
• Excellent fault-finding, root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a proactive approach
• Focus on quality, safety and continuous improvement
• Multi-skilled engineering experience would be advantageous
• Good IT skills and experience maintaining engineering documentation
Day-to-day, you'll take ownership of the mechanical maintenance strategy within your assigned production department, ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest standards of reliability and performance. You'll develop and manage PPM schedules, carry out preventative maintenance, resolve mechanical defects, and work closely with Production teams to minimise downtime and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
You'll also support safety initiatives, maintain accurate maintenance records, manage critical spare parts, contribute to capital projects and continuous improvement activities, and help develop maintenance procedures and standard operating practices to improve long-term asset performance.
