Head of Learning & Capability - Glasgow - Salary: £42k-£50k DOE

A leading Glasgow-based firm is recruiting a Head of Learning & Capability to join their team. The successful individual will have strong expertise in training and development and thrive in a culture-shaping environment. What Does the Day-to-Day Look Like?

As a Head of Learning and Capability, you will have responsibility in the following areas of our operational talent lifecycle

Progression & Development

  • Develop, implement & lead our behavioural and technical Capability Framework aligned with organisational goals
  • Work closely with partners to create engaging training materials, organise and facilitate workshops to enhance the skills and knowledge of our employees, and address capability gaps.
  • Create and update job specifications, and work with the wider Talent Lifecycle Division to ensure job requirements are accurately reflected in recruitment processes.  Lead our Promotions Panel process to assess and recommend employees for career progression
  • Work with partners and department leaders to ensure fair and transparent promotion processes

Culture and Integration

  • Oversee our Community Groups; dedicated to social, and employee wellbeing, women’s initiatives, and charity support
  • Put our organisational culture at the heart of your initiatives to make meaningful changes that create a positive and inclusive workplace
  • Develop and manage mentorship programs to facilitate the growth and development of employees
  • Match mentors and mentees based on career goals and organisational needs

Learning

  • Play a crucial role in shaping our teams’ success by designing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive training solutions.
  • Engage effectively with the wider Talent Lifecycle Division to ensure an aligned approach in developing individual and team performance
  • Co-ordinate and ensure delivery of a suitable programme for Continuing Professional Development 
  • Oversee the success and sustainable system of our Trainee Solicitor Programme working alongside our Trainee Partner to do so

Coaching, Performance, Evaluations, and Succession

  • Champion our Learning Management System
  • Work with heads of department to establish performance goals and metrics
  • Work with the wider Talent Division to oversee the appraisal process, ensuring it is conducted consistently 

Requirements

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management or related field
  • Proven experience in similar roles
  • Experience working in the legal sector
  • Experience in designing and delivering training programs
  • Knowledge of performance management and career development practices
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and decision-making skills
  • Proficient IT skills
  • Knowledge and experience of e-learning platforms and LMS
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work quickly, accurately and discretely
