Electrical Maintenance Technician – Central Scotland – Competitive Salary
Our client, a well-established manufacturing business, is looking to appoint an Electrical Maintenance Technician to join their engineering team on a permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical maintenance professional to join a busy manufacturing environment, taking responsibility for safe and effective maintenance activities while supporting plant reliability, continuous improvement and engineering performance.
Are you who we're looking for?
- HNC in an Electrical Engineering discipline
- Completed a recognised four-year electrical apprenticeship
- Minimum 4 years' experience as an Electrical Engineer within a manufacturing environment
- Strong industrial electrical maintenance experience
- Good knowledge of health & safety legislation, British Standards, HSE guidelines and environmental requirements
- Strong technical knowledge of control and drive systems
- Experience with PLC systems, particularly Allen-Bradley and Siemens S5/S7
- Good communication and leadership skills
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Experience working with CMMS and PPM systems
- Engineering Technician (EngTech) qualification, or willingness to work towards, would be desirable
- Previous experience leading or supervising teams would be advantageous
What does the day-to-day look like?
- Carry out and support planned and reactive electrical maintenance activities
- Allocate and coordinate work for craft and contractor personnel
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and to a high standard
- Support apprentices and maintenance teams with technical guidance
- Work closely with Operations and Technical teams to improve equipment reliability
- Assist with defect elimination and the reduction of unplanned downtime
- Support planned shutdowns and maintenance projects
- Ensure maintenance plans, CMMS systems and engineering procedures are effectively utilised
- Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement
- Help eliminate repetitive equipment failures and improve plant availability
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, quality and environmental control
- Promote effective communication and safe working practices across the maintenance team
- Take a supervisory role when working with labour-only contractors
