HRC Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Accountant / Xero Specialist to join a successful and growing, large independent firm of Chartered Accountants based in Glasgow who are offering a competitive salary and excellent opportunities for career progression.
The role offers the opportunity to work with a varied portfolio of clients where you will be responsible for a range of accounting services. Working with an established team, you will have full support and the opportunity to further develop your skills.
How your day to day will look:
- Manage a portfolio of clients across a variety of industries
- Limited company, sole trader and partnership accounts
- Management accounts
- Tax computations both personal and corporate
- VAT
- Accounts preparation
- Business advisory work
- Assist in training and delegation of work with junior members of the team
Xero Specific including On Boarding
- Ensure on boarding assignments are conducted in accordance with the firms procedures
- Arrange to meet clients either face to face or virtually;
- Complete a Know Your Client assessment, review and advise the best way to deal with client accounting records and select the correct Xero plan to meet their needs;
- Prepare a scope of engagement and fee for the assignment:
- Set up Xero, including bank feeds, using wherever possible
- Train clients to use Xero to deliver information to the level agreed in the initial scope of engagement;
- Provide on going technical support to client on all Xero matters;
- Ensure support is delivered in a timely manner;
- An understanding of all features within Xero and the Xero Application market, experience in setting up clients on Xero and integrating key applications is essential;
- A knowledge of other accounting packages e.g. Sage and experience of manipulating and exporting data from Excel & CSV documents

- Relevant previous experience required
- Have relevant qualification (CA, ACCA) or qualified by experience
- Effective team working skills
- Effective planning and organising skills to ensure that the varied workload is managed effectively
- Good communication skills and the ability to engage at all levels
- Good client service skills
- IT literate, good knowledge of Microsoft office, CCH experience is advantageous
- Self motivated
