It’s predicted that, by 2024,
over 19 million of us in the UK will listen to podcasts regularly. As it stands just now, one in twenty of us consume our news vis podcast. Nearly 24% of British adults listen to a
podcast every day.
They are a very convenient way to take in information. Whether you listen whilst you work, or during a lunchtime walk, or even on your commute (if you still have one of those), podcasts allow you to catch up or learn on your subject of choice.
So, if you’re in the Legal profession, you’ve probably come across a podcast or two that will either help you with your career ambitions or allow you to learn more about your chosen discipline. Or perhaps you’ve never thought about tuning in.

The Legal Room UK
You can tune into this podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. There are only 25 episodes of this podcast, so far, but in that time, they have managed to cover everything from Covid 19 to Power of Attorney; NFTs to Workplace Disciplinaries. This is helpful if you are perhaps early on in your law career and haven’t chosen your specialism yet.
Talking Law
You can tune into this podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. This podcast is hosted by the multi-award winning barrister (and founder of Women in Law UK), Sally Penni. It provides fascinating insight into some of the most prominent figures in UK law. It’s a great bit of career inspiration and there are nearly 60 episodes for you to listen to.
Not All Lawyers Have Law Degrees
You can tune into this podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. Here, the BBC Legal Team take a fresh approach to Legal career paths. This podcast has been shortlisted for Diversity and inclusion awards and hosts guests with all kinds of different backgrounds. It’s a really refreshing listen, with lots of inspiration to be found here.
Rights Up
You can tune into this podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. This podcast, which has just shy of 50 episodes to its name, is brought to you by the Oxford Human Rights Hub. It has covered everything from police brutality to the right to free speech to FGM. It’s this wide range of subjects – and the depth of knowledge of the speakers -that make this a must listen.
Law Pod UK
You can tune into this podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify and there is a whopping 156 episodes at your disposal. This podcast is run by barristers at One Crown Office Row and it will keep you up to date on developments within civil and public law in the UK. They have fantastic guest speakers and cover a broad range of topics.
BBC Radio 4 Best of Today
You can tune into this podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. If you like to consumer your news in small, but in depth, chunks then this is the podcast for you. There is expert analysis and debate on everything from fears over new policing laws to Boris breaking his own lockdown legislation. Perfect for short listening bursts.
