 Whether you are at the start of your Accountancy career or have been “doing the day job” for several years, it’s always good to be on the look out for learning opportunities. Whilst at your desk, it might seem hard to find the time to fit in another webinar or you may well have other commitments that prevent you from taking on additional coursework. Have you thought about listening to a podcast? Podcasts are a very convenient way of learning – or being inspired – whilst undertaking other activities. So, if you’re at your desk (or if you still have a commute), you can be listening to content that aligns with your career goals. Here are just some of the podcasts you could be listening to … Humanise the Numbers You can tune into this podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. There are over 40 episodes of this podcast for your listening pleasure. On each episode, host Paul Shrimpling interviews a business leader of an accountancy firm. They talk challenges, successes and innovations. And, of course, they talk about building empathy and teams and seeing beyond the bottom line. The Evolving Accountant You can tune into this podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. This podcast covers a range of topics, from the Chancellor’s Budget to careers for life; from marketing to Covid-19. There are almost 90 episodes at your disposal and this podcast, too, focuses on dispelling the myths of the “boring accountant” in a grey suit. The Pioneer Accountants Podcast You can tune into this podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. This is a relatively new podcast but is no less engaging. Each week, a different guest speaker joins host Kirsten Gibbs to discuss “The Big Questions”. The episodes aren’t long and there’s lots of lively debate on each of them so there’s plenty of learning opportunities here. Accounting Leaders You can tune into this podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. You probably won’t get as diverse a topic range as this – from cannabis accounting to struggling to recruit in rural New Zealand to building scalable firms. Host Stuart McLeod has a run of 20 episodes so far, speaking to accountancy leaders in order to inspire and motivate. Go Beyond Disruption You can tune into this podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. There are over 170 episodes of this podcast, brought to you by AICPA and CIMA. The podcast is designed to keep accountants up to date across a spectrum of topics, including cybersecurity, blockchain, artificial intelligence and “The Great Resignation”.
