Kirsty McRae Meet the RecruiterHow long have you been with HRC Recruitment?     I am into my fourth month. What made you want to join?   I wanted to join a company with great career progression and where the staff are valued. I was approached by HRC and right from the get-go, I could tell that it was a company that was warm, friendly, and would give me a great opportunity to grow in skills and develop my career. What career path did you follow to get to your current role? I left university with a History degree and worked in retail management for a few years. My partner contracts a lot for his role, and often deals with recruiters, which got me thinking about the job. I was given an opportunity at another agency to come on as a trainee, and I haven’t looked back since. What was your dream job as a child?   I always wanted to be a teacher or a west end star. How do you commute to work? I drive as I live locally to the Dundee office. What does a typical day look like? A quick office meeting to start the day and share successes, then on the phone to speak to my clients. I devote my afternoons to speaking to candidates and sourcing for jobs. What’s the best part of your job? I love speaking to people. I really enjoy going out to see both my clients and candidates and seeing the different environments they work and meeting all the different personalities. Kirsty McRae Meet the RecruiterDescribe the company culture here. So far, HRC has been very welcoming and warm. It’s a much more personal company, with consultants delivering a personalised approach to the business, which is a complete 180 of what it’s like at the larger corporations. What’s been your biggest success so far?   I have exceeded my targets to date and placed some excellent candidates in new roles. Outside of work, I took part in a student musical at university which raised money for local charities. Over the 3 years I did this, I helped raise over £250,000. What do you like to do in your free time? I like theatre - be that going to see it or taking part as a member of my local musical society (which is putting on The Addams Family this year). If I am not singing or dancing, I am with my partner and my dog on walks around the local area. Have you been on holiday this year? If so, where? Not this year. I am currently saving for my wedding, so I won’t be on holiday for a while. What is most important to you? My family. Describe yourself in three words. Enthusiastic, approachable and happy.
