Due to expansion, my client are looking for an experienced mortgage underwriter to join their team in Glasgow City Centre. You will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting information to ensure they are acting as a responsible lender while ensuring you are delivering excellent service to customers, intermediaries, and colleagues. You will be reviewing Mortgage Lending Applications which fall outside of standard lending criteria and ensuring decisions are made with a balanced commercial and customer-centric view.
What will the day to day look like?
-Approve referred mortgage applications keeping within a defines underwriting mandate ensuring you stay within the clients lending policy at all times.
-Ensure risk levels are kept to a minimum
-Provide a high-quality service to customers
-Display a full awareness of the business risk appetite and ensure alignment to this in carrying out duties
-Provide support to operations team as and when required
Are you the right fit?
-You will be CeMap qualified
-You will possess strong, analytical and decision making skills
-Current or previous underwriting experience (including a lending mandate)
-Ability to work within lending policy/procedures in order to come to a responsible lending decision
-Experience of reviewing Credit Reference Agency Reports and the ability to identify risks which may impact a lending decision
-You will be able to work off of your own initiative and constantly be looking of ways in which you can improve your processes.
In return, you will be offered an excellent basic salary of up to £30,000 DOE plus excellent benefits package.
