HR Consultancy are delighted to be working with Macfarlan Smith on an exclusive partnership basis to recruit an experienced HR Advisor or HR Business Partner to join the team on a 15-month fixed term contract.
Macfarlan Smith are an Edinburgh-based pharma manufacturer owned by FTSE 100 chemicals group Johnson Matthey. Founded in 1815, they are one of the world’s oldest pharmaceutical companies, with almost 200 years’ experience in natural product extractions and chemical synthesis. The are performing well at the moment and working on a lot of exciting projects internally.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced HR Advisor to work for a diverse workforce where you will report directly into the HR Director for Europe. You will have to work autonomously, supporting managers in all HR matters and providing sound professional advice. This is an operational, hands on position and key responsibilities will include:
- Providing first line support to managers on HR procedures, disciplinary, grievance and statutory issues
- Conduct absence reviews to assist Line Management in reducing and managing absence.
- Assist managers with departmental restructures and consultations
- Monthly HR reporting
- Preparing referral paperwork for Occupational Health as well as playing an integral part in monthly Occupational Health Meetings.
- Deliver new starts inductions in conjunction with the L&D team
- Prepare ay evaluations an administer predictive index profiles for job roles (training provided)
You will have sound working knowledge of employee relations and be able to confidently deal with most cases yourself and will have experience of working within a unionised environment. CIPD qualification is preferred but not essential and you will have proven experience in supporting up the way and down the way in business along with being able to adapt your approach to a diverse workforce and manage conflict effectively.
