About the Organisation

Scottish Borders Housing Association (SBHA) is an independent Housing Association serving communities in the Scottish Borders by providing quality, affordable homes. SBHA acquired its housing stock from Scottish Borders Council on 3rd March 2003 following an independent ballot of tenants.  SBHA is Head Office is located in Selkirk in the Scottish Borders, SBHA currently employs circa. 200 Staff.

 

About the Role

You will be based in SBHA’s headquarters at based within the beautiful Scottish Borders and will be responsible for HR, Corporate Governance & IT. Your role is vital in ensuring we have an engaged and highly-skilled workforce.

The position of Director of Human Resources, Corporate Governance and IT is a newly created role, which will be located in Selkirk, and will be an influential role joining the board of SBHA. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high level of commercial acumen and will be an active member of the SBHA board, you will be able to drive the HR agenda to ensure a positive working environment for employees and management.

Being a key member of the SBHA Board of Management you will ensure the effective delivery of corporate, strategic and operational HR in line with the Association’s Business Plan and relevant Policies. You will also be responsible for the information systems and corporate services ensuring their cost-effective management in line with association of policies and procedures.

What will you be doing?

The Director of HR, Corporate Governance and IT will lead the HR strategy and agenda and will manage all industrial relations, HR strategy, HR Operations to ensure a healthy working environment. The successful applicant will ensure the organisation is up to date on all areas of HR encompassing key area such as; Employee / Industrial relations, succession planning, risk management, HR policies and practices, personal and professional development, and job evaluation, pay and grading.

SBHA is a highly unionised organization with two unions representing staff across the sites (UNITE and UNISON). The role of HR Director will be able to develop and foster a healthy working relationship with the Unions to ensure that SBHA are working in partnership and are able to drive the organisation in a positive industrial relations environment.

You will work closely with SBHA’s Chief Executive and other senior leaders. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a People strategy that delivers strategic approaches to resourcing, reward, recognition and employee engagement.

 

About You

You will be a CIPD qualified HR professional who has worked at senior level in a strategic role.  You should have a strong understanding of all aspects of HR and be seen as a trusted advisor. You will be able to demonstrate excellent exposure in the delivery of working with unions and building partnerships to maintain a health working relationship.

You will have a proactive leadership style and the ability to promote an outstanding team spirit. Substantive experience in managing Human Resources, corporate governance and IT services, along with driving the relevant strategies, is essential.

You will work closely with our Group CEO and other senior leaders. You will be responsible for developing and implementing a People strategy that delivers strategic approaches to resourcing, reward, recognition and employee engagement.
