Commercial Insurance Broker – Edinburgh – £42,000

Are you an experienced Commercial Insurance Broker? Do you have experience as an underwriter and are looking to get into a broking-focused role? A leading independent broker is looking to add a head to their established, specialist team.

This role will offer the opportunity to work alongside some incredibly experienced and well-connected insurance professionals, offering the chance for genuine professional growth and development.

What will the day-to-day look like?

    • Provide accurate and timely new business quotations for all classes of Commercial Insurance
    • Offer tailored advice and guidance to clients, ensuring their insurance needs are met effectively
    • Refer complex cases to the Head of Department or other authorised personnel when necessary
    • Initiate and manage insurance cover for new clients, ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed, premiums are collected, and records are updated
    • Issue Certificates of Insurance and Policy Schedules where required, ensuring clients receive the correct documentation
    • Handle mid-term adjustments for existing clients, ensuring accurate policy updates and communication with insurers
    • Manage the renewal process for existing clients, including reviewing coverage, providing quotations, and negotiating with insurers to offer the best terms
    • Ensure all renewal documentation is accurate and completed in a timely manner, with premiums collected and records maintained
    • Thoroughly review all client documentation before dispatch, ensuring accuracy and completeness

 

What experience is needed?

    • Strong understanding of FCA Rules, GDPR, and relevant legal frameworks such as the Rehabilitation of Offenders, Disability Discrimination, and Race Relations Acts
    • Knowledge of money laundering legislation and the Law of Agency
    • In-depth knowledge of General Insurance principles including insurable interest, utmost good faith, indemnity, contribution, average, and subrogation
    • Understanding of underwriting, rating factors, and their application across various Commercial insurance classes
    • Comprehensive knowledge of the UK General Insurance market, particularly in Commercial & Charity insurances
