Associate Solicitor - Personal Injury (Defender)

HRC are thrilled to represent out Global Legal Client on the search for an Associate Solicitor to join their Personal Injury division. Our client's Catastrophic Personal Injury and Large Loss team is growing and this could be an opportunity for you to develop your career further. The team offers clients comprehensive support, handling everything from policy coverage to litigation for high-value claims. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly expanding team within our multi-award-winning firm.

This position can be based in either our Edinburgh or Glasgow office and requires regular interaction with clients across the country. Our client provides a collaborative and supportive work environment, with modern and flexible working arrangements. For this role - we are looking for a candidate with substantial experience in personal injury law, particularly in managing Catastrophic Personal Injury and Large Loss cases. This role provides an opportunity to develop an evolving area of law.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with the team on a variety of cases, primarily representing insurance companies and self-insured commercial organizations.
  • Handling a diverse caseload and appearing regularly in the Sheriff Court.
  • Conducting investigations, taking witness statements, and reviewing medical records and reports.
  • Identifying necessary information and securing relevant documentation from claimant representatives.
  • Adhering to reporting and reserving requirements in line with client SLAs.
  • Managing case files, including drafting reports, updating documents, and correspondence.
  • Attending court appearances, pre-trial meetings, and meeting court deadlines.
  • Supporting Partners in servicing existing clients, developing new business, and maintaining client relationships through technical excellence and innovation.
  • Drafting legal documents and providing client advice.
  • Managing interlocutory proceedings, CMCs, and client meetings.
  • Assisting with marketing and business development activities within the team and the broader casualty group.
