How did you get in to recruitment?

I fell into recruitment (as a lot of consultants seem to) after going in to register with OA for temp work. They offered me a maternity position covering Reception/Admin then promoted me to consultant (which was just as well as my admin was terrible).

What was your dream job as a child?

I really fancied being a lawyer when I was at school however I don’t think I had the concentration required to study this at the time – it takes forever!

How do you commute?

Unfortunately, I rely on Scotrail as I commute from Bathgate so the train is the most practical option.

What does a typical day look like?

My days are really varied and sometimes I’ll be in Edinburgh/West Lothian for 1-2 days a week which impacts what I’m doing. Typically, it’ll be a mixture of business development, attending client visits, registering new candidates, sourcing candidates, updating existing candidates and arranging interviews.

What’s the best part of your job?

When you find the perfect candidate for a hard to fill role and both the candidate and client are delighted.

What’s been your biggest success so far?

I’d probably say becoming a homeowner at a relatively young age (I was 21 when I bought my flat). I have young family members struggling to buy their own home now so I’m really proud of myself for doing this when I did.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Go out for food (because I’m always hungry!), go to the cinema, shopping, the usual.

What is most important to you?

To be happy and content. I think too often people get caught up with work issues and just day to day life and they forget to take a step back and appreciate everything they have like friends, family, nice home, and a job they enjoy.

Describe yourself in three words.

Honest, hardworking and friendly.
