Meet The Recruiter: Linzi Murphy
13 October 2017
How did you get in to recruitment?
I went to register with an agency straight after leaving Uni, hoping to find some temp work. At the registration meeting, they offered me a role working on their reception desk, covering maternity leave. While working in the reception area, I got a really good feel for recruitment and realised I wanted to become a recruiter myself so, here we are, eleven years later.
What was your dream job as a child?
I wanted to be a newsreader – I must have enjoyed watching the news when I was younger. I also wanted to be a dancer and I still want to be one thirty years later as my colleagues would probably agree - especially after a HRC night out! I have been known to impersonate Michael Jackson, Madonna and Beyonce.
How do you commute?
I live five minutes from the local train station so I get the train every day.
What does a typical day look like?
In the eleven years I have worked in recruitment, no two days have ever been the same. It’s such a varied job, which comes with its challenges. It can mainly involve a lot of client meetings, candidate registrations, filling temp bookings, sourcing for permanent roles, sales calls, networking – the list is endless!
What’s the best part of your job?
I get to meet new people every day, whether that is a candidate looking for a new job or a client looking for their next hire. I love making someone’s day by calling with an exciting job offer.
What’s been your biggest success so far?
My 3 year old daughter Mollie, who is the craziest, funniest and most clever little person.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Run, run and more running – you can often hear me in the office talking about PB’s, 10ks, lap times … I think most folk just ignore me these days!
What is most important to you?
Family, friends and happiness.
Describe yourself in three words.
Passionate, loyal and blonde.
