Meet The Recruiter: Jackie MacGregor
5 September 2017
How did you get in to recruitment?
Usual answer - by accident! An agency had initially placed me as a Mortgage Underwriter many moons ago, but it was far from my dream job. I went back in to see them and they suggested I try working for them as a consultant. The rest is history!
What was your dream job as a child?
I wanted to be a librarian or Madonna! I loved the peace and quiet of sitting and reading, watching people come and go. However, I also loved the ideal of dancing around in an 80’s tutu with crimped hair and fishnets on. It was a tough choice!
How do you commute?
Train – and I normally blag a lift from Monica Lochrie or Michelle McLaughlin on the way home!
What does a typical day look like?
No two days are the same. It is mostly liaising with and meeting clients and candidates as well as managing and supporting the best Office Services Team in the business.
What’s the best part of your job?
Telling a candidate they have the job – that never gets boring.
What’s been your biggest success so far?
Does surviving seventeen years in recruitment count?
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to spend time with my husband, my friends and family. I absolutely love live music, gigs and festivals. Also, where possible I will be off travelling, whether that is a weekend by a loch in a log cabin, a city break with the girls or time with the hubby in Tenerife.
I have also been known to enjoy a song and dance!
What is most important to you?
I think this comes with my old age - the most important thing to me is to be the best version of me, celebrate the successes and don’t sweat the small stuff!
Bright lipstick is also hugely important to me.
Describe yourself in three words.
Positive, tenacious and sparkly!
