Life As An Office Services Recruiter

Taking the leap into a new job can be a daunting prospect. As recruiters, we understand this. So, should you choose to come and join my Office Services team, we understand that it is not a decision that you will have taken lightly. Our Temporary Recruitment Consultant, Jackie Shields, made the move to join us from the hospitality industry in April of this year. She let us know how she has found life at HR Consultancy so far.
“I joined HR Consultancy because they seemed to offer a proper work/life balance and the chance to work with and learn from a great team of people. I absolutely haven’t been disappointed on either front.”
Jackie joined my team just three months ago, but feels like she has been fully supported in her role so far.
“The girls in the Office Service team have been amazing. I couldn’t ask for a better team to work with. I am learning so much from them and they can ask me about temp jobs, since that is my niche market. We’ve been on a couple of nights out after work and I feel like we’ve really bonded.
“Jackie MacGregor is a wonderful mentor. She has an absolute wealth of experience in the recruitment industry, having worked at HR Consultancy for so long, and every day I get to learn something from her. She’s so supportive, and has really encouraged me to blossom in this role, without standing over me.”
We sought Jackie out from her current role, and were incredibly impressed by her ability to spot the right candidate for a role.
“It’s a high-volume desk, but the quality of the candidates speaks for itself. I have a pool of talented individuals who are ready to start tomorrow – if you need them!
“You might not think that you are equipped for recruitment if you don’t have that type of background, but you’d be surprised at how many transferrable skills you will have. Coming from the hospitality industry, where I was often on-call and it was incredibly stressful, I have been able to utilise the experience of a fast-paced environment to successfully work on a temp desk here.”
Before joining HR Consultancy, Jackie did a bit of research on the company (as everyone should do before an interview) and was so impressed by what she saw, she couldn’t wait to start.
“I had a look at the website and I loved the blog and the social media output – there seemed to be a real vibrancy about the place. I wanted to be part of a team like that.
“Since, I’ve started here, I can see they have a really modern outlook on how to treat your staff and what a work/life balance looks like. Even small things – like when our MD bought us all ice lollies because it was roasting outside – can make the difference. I think when management demonstrate that they genuinely care, you know you’re in a good place. In fact, it makes you want to go above and beyond.”
Jackie has thrived in her new role, and would encourage others to come and join our team.
“I don’t regret making the leap. I absolutely love it here, especially in the Office Services team. It feels like the ideal role for me.”
